Le plus connu est le CO<sub>2<\/sub> (dioxyde de carbone), mais par exemple aussi le CH<sub>4<\/sub> (m\u00e9thane) et le H<sub>2<\/sub>O (vapeur d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne). Le CH<sub>4<\/sub> se d\u00e9gage, entre autres, lors du d\u00e9gel de la toundra (perg\u00e9lisol, aussi appel\u00e9 permafrost). Le perg\u00e9lisol d\u00e9g\u00e8le en cons\u00e9quence du r\u00e9chauffement climatique, qui est en moyenne beaucoup plus important autour du p\u00f4le Nord.
